Sustainable Aviation Fuels​

The aviation industry is entering a new age with a focus on reducing carbon footprints and bolstering sustainable operations. Aviation fuels has been in the global media recently, gaining attention with new laws being enacted. Decarbonizing aviation fuels is becoming a priority for airlines as incentives and laws are put in place to promote sustainable aviation fuel production.

Aviation Fuel Additives

SAF as jet fuel is posing new challenges in application and blending of the products from renewable diesel refining.  Nalco Water provides customers with deep renewable process knowledge, focused innovation, and net zero carbon focused strategies and solutions resulting in the assurance that SAF production operations will be reliable and cost efficient. Our corrosion, lubricity, antistatic, antioxidant, biocide, and metal deactivator offerings help produce high quality fuels throughout the value chain.

Biorefinery Treatment

Most SAF is produced from renewable feedstock refining as Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA). Nalco Water offers a comprehensive approach, providing an integrated suite of solutions for production sites as they rise to the challenge of processing renewable feedstocks into sustainable fuels. Our holistic offering includes a portfolio of solutions for feedstock stability & pre-treatment, refinery processing & wastewater processing, and fuel additives to meet required specifications for sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel. 

Innovative Routes to SAF

New pathways like ethanol-to-jet and methanol-to-jet are being developed and scaled up. As these technologies and Power to Liquids are being developed, Nalco Water is partnering with refiners to enable reliable and efficient operations.
