Mixed C4 streams produced in ethylene crackers can contain anywhere from 30 to 80 percent of 1-3 butadiene. During storage and transportation of these streams, butadiene may react to form polymers, which can foul flow meters and transferring pipelines. In addition, polyperoxides may also build up while in storage, causing an explosion risk. Our Fortis™ mix C4 stabilizer chemical programs are designed to mitigate these risks.
